Postgraduate student shortlisted for the Howard League’s John Sunley Memorial Prize 2014

Congratulations to MA Criminal Justice and Criminology student, Naomi-Ellen Speechley, who has been shortlisted for the Howard League for Penal Reform’s John Sunley Memorial Prize.

The Howard League for Penal Reform, a national charity working to achieve less crime, safer communities and fewer numbers in prison, established the John Sunley Prize in order to ensure that the best dissertations produced by Masters students get the recognition they deserve and add to the pool of knowledge surrounding penal issues.

Naomi-Ellen submitted her MA dissertation, a critical review of the work of the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC). The winner of the prize is expected to be announced in the autumn.

Following the completion of her MA at Leeds, Naomi-Ellen has also secured a research post working with Professor Carolyn Hoyle at the University of Oxford.
