School of Law academic engages in cross-border academic dialogue at University of Cambridge

Dr Ci Ren attended an academic roundtable discussion at the University of Cambridge Law Faculty as part of a delegation welcoming leading scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

The roundtable was chaired by three Cambridge professors: Prof. Ellis Ferran (Professor of Company & Securities Law, Provost of the Gates-Cambridge Trust), Prof. Louise Gullifer (Rouse Ball Professor of English Law, Chair of the Law Faculty Board), and Prof. Felix Steffek (Deputy Chair of the Faculty Board).

As a member of the Centre for Business Law and Practice (CBLP), Dr Ren contributed a speech on the regulation of AI and Fintech, with particular focus on comparative perspectives between the UK and China. The event created a unique opportunity for cross-border academic dialogue on one of the most pressing issues in contemporary law and financial regulation.

It demonstrates the School of Law’s active role in international academic engagement and its contribution to cutting-edge debates on AI and Fintech regulation.

Professor Louise Gullifer says:

I would like to pass on my best wishes to colleagues at the Centre for Business Law and Practice at Leeds School of Law as they continue their important research in business law and regulation.

The roundtable also demonstrates the School’s growing visibility in fostering dialogue between the UK and China on key areas of business law and technology.
