Dr Laura Bainbridge invited to join the West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit Advisory Group

In February 2021, the Home Office announced that the West Yorkshire VRU would receive just over £3.3m of additional Government funding to continue in its efforts to tackle serious violent crime.

School of Law academic Dr Laura Bainbridge has been invited to join the West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) Advisory Group.

The VRU takes a fundamentally different approach to violence reduction, one where the public sector institutions and communities that make up West Yorkshire act together to help cut violence with early intervention, prevention, education and partnership working.

The VRU Advisory group aims to identify opportunities for collaboration, understand knowledge gaps and how the VRU can best work to explore them and to help shape the VRU’s research programme for 2022-2023 year and beyond.

Dr Bainbridge said, “I am delighted to join the West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit Advisory Group, and in doing so support the unit to achieve its vision of preventing violence via strengthening partnerships, working with communities, developing an understanding of the causes of violence, and delivering interventions that make a lasting difference”.
