Professor Luke Clements’ work cited in High Court judgment

The judgment concerned whether social services retained the ability to fund holidays for disabled people.

A High Court judgment on 14 December 2021 by Mrs Justice Land DBE (in R (RG) v Suffolk County Council [2021] EWHC 3368 (Admin)) cited the work of the School of Law’s Chair in Law and Social Justice Professor Luke Clements.

The judgment makes extensive citation (see paragraphs 118 - 119) to Professor Clements' ‘authoritative textbook Community Care and the Law’ – and the judge concludes (at paragraph 121) that she was ‘satisfied on the basis of the analysis by Clements that the CA 2014 does not have the effect of reducing the range of provision available to adults in need’.
