Remembering Rachael Taylor
Colleagues and students at the School of Law are shocked and deeply saddened by the untimely passing of our dear colleague and friend Rachael Taylor.
Rachael had worked in the School of Law for over 30 years and was very much loved and respected by students and staff alike. She met her husband Nick Taylor, one of our professors when they were both young colleagues and was the mother of their two sons, Sean and Sam. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends, who feel the loss very deeply. She will be missed dearly by our whole School community.
Rachael touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, humour and generosity of spirit. We have many wonderful and happy memories of her. We have created a memorial page as one means to share these and to celebrate and remember Rachael. We shall pass on your memories and condolences to Rachael’s family, in accordance with their wishes.
As an alternative to sending flowers, and in consultation with her family, we are planning a permanent means of celebrating Rachael’s life that reflects what was important to her and what she loved. To do this we would like to design a garden in her memory next to the home of the School of Law, the Liberty Building.
Rachael was a keen gardener and loved spending time on her allotment with her dad. A garden in her memory is most fitting. It will be a place where people can unwind – to meet friends or sit in peace - outside the hustle and bustle of the main campus.
