Connecting Legal Education Fest: Programme and Registration

We're delighted to invite you to CLE Fest, a free one-day event hosting up to 100 delegates – including over 30 speakers – with 'celebrating connections' as its theme.  In true festival spirit, we invite you to come along to celebrate connection – whether through connection and collaboration with each other, with your students, through joyful learning experiences or indeed with the wider world. 

Organised by Lydia Bleasdale (University of Leeds), Michael Doherty (Lancaster University) and Verona Ni Drisceoil (University of Sussex), with support from the Society for Legal Scholars and the School of Law, the Fest has been designed with a focus on interactivity, questions, experimentation – and plenty of fun. There will be no overrunning sessions; no 'sage on the stage'; no awkward attempts to balance coffee and tiny plates while making small talk! We'll have spaces to relax, to have fun, and to talk – before (hopefully) many of us will head out in Leeds for a post-Fest play.

The deadline to register is 3rd June (unless you would like to apply for support with travel costs – please see below).

Where is CLE Fest being held?
Registration – and the majority of the sessions – will be held in the Liberty Building, School of Law, University of Leeds. This is situated on the corner of Moorland Road and Belle Vue Road on the Western Campus of the University of Leeds. It is situated behind the Maurice Keyworth Building (Business School). It is building no 16 on the campus map: http://www.leeds.ac.uk/campusmap. From Leeds train station, it is a 30-minute walk, or you can take a taxi for around £5.00. Alternatively, the number 56 bus runs from Albion Street via Woodhouse Lane (A660) and stops on Moorland Road. These run every 10 minutes. If travelling by car, there is a visitors' car park at the south end of the University campus (you will need to be booked into this), or there is limited, four-hour street parking on Belle Vue Road immediately behind the Liberty Building.

Limited travel support
We know not every delegate or speaker will have access to travel funding for this free event. We're able to support a small amount of UK travel costs, thanks to funding from the Society for Legal Scholars and the School of Law. Please register at the link below by 6th May (this is earlier than the standard deadline to ensure requests can be considered and actioned an appropriate amount of time ahead of the event), if you would like to request this support. Please then email connectinglegaleducation@gmail.com with some information about why you would like to request travel cost assistance and where you would be travelling from, with an approximate cost. In the event the requests exceed the travel budget, priority will be given to those who are speakers, those who are ECRs, and/or those who are underrepresented within academia.
