The Chubb company is synonymous with locks, but did you know that it was an early adopter of film for promoting its products?
About this event
Through documentary footage of strong rooms, advertisements invoking fear of burglary, and investigations into armoured cash-carrying vans, this event shows how film shaped the public’s awareness of security issues across the twentieth century. The event will begin with a short introduction.
This event derives from a partnership between the LMA and researchers at the University of Leeds investigating the history of security and the security industry, with a focus on the Chubb and Son collection. The research project ‘Security for Sale in Modern Britain’ is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
