Climate crisis, Policing, and Public Safety by TYP-ACE

The Yorkshire Policing-Academic Centre of Excellence (TYP-ACE) flagship event on the climate crisis and its impacts on policing and public safety.

This flagship event on the climate crisis and its impacts on policing and public safety brings together experts from the Universities of Leeds (Priestley Centre for Climate Futures) and York (YESI), and practitioner networks, including representatives from local resilience forums (LRFs) and statutory agencies, with two underpinning themes:

Panel 1: The implications of climate change for operational policing, including future risks and demand in the context of preparedness, emergency response, resources, and workforce resilience.

Panel 2: The role of partnership working and whole-of-society approaches in building resilience to climate-related risks and emergencies.

The Agenda will be shared in August; highlights will include:

  • Keynote on Climate projections in the UK
  • Expert Panel on the Climate crisis impacts on operational policing
  • Expert Panel on the role of multiagency partnerships & whole-of-society approaches to climate resilience
