Centre for Democratic Politics event with the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, Daniel Greenberg CB

On Thursday 15th October 2026, the Centre for Democratic Politics (CDP) held a very successful evening talk with the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, Daniel Greenberg CB.

The Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards is an independent officer of the House of Commons. The Commissioner is responsible for monitoring the operation of the House of Commons Code of Conduct and Registers (including investigating alleged breaches).

Mr Greenberg's engaging talk focused on trust and standards in public life. He spoke passionately of his faith in parliamentary politics and his commitment to upholding not only honesty but integrity amongst members in the House of Commons.

Though he is the person in charge of leading the current investigation into the £5m gift to Nigel Farage, Mr Greenberg CB remained tight-lipped about all ongoing investigations.

The sold-out event was co-organised with the Law School and was held in the Moot Court room at the Liberty building. Some of POLIS' final year students helped to organise, advertise and even chair the entire event, leading a highly engaging question and answer session with Mr Greenberg CB. This all provided fascinating insight into standards, conduct in public life and trust to an audience of both students and staff.
