In an unprecedented case in Pakistan’s judicial history, School of Law alumni Muhammad Yawar Ali, becomes part of the three-judge special court to preside over the prosecution of former military leader Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad.
According to a statement issued from Nawaz Sharif’s Office (Pakistan’s Prime Minister), the judges were selected on the basis of merit and seniority, proposed by the chief justices of the country’s five high courts.
Having studied Law at the University of Leeds, Justice Ali has served in a number of high profile legal roles in Islamabad. He was elevated as a Lahore High Court judge in 2010.
