Research interests

My study aims to provide a description of the use of metaphors in epidemic discourse through the comparative analysis of metaphors for two epidemics, SARS and Covid-19 from four representative online broadsheet newspapers in China and the UK.

Metaphors are believed to covey people’s understanding and perception of certain issues. Thus, my research focuses on the similarities and differences of metaphors in two different cultures and societies and wishes to find out possible mappings of these metaphors.
