As Faculty Facilities Manager,  my main duties include:

  • Lead the management of facilities across the Faculty in order to ensure the efficient and safe operation of day-to-day activities.
  • Working with the Director of Operations, the School Managers and senior academic managers to ensure that teaching/seminar rooms, meeting space and office accommodation is functional and maintained to the highest standards in order to ensure excellence in teaching, research and support services;
    • Deliver a comprehensive buildings maintenance/issue reporting service, including proactive development and upgrade of spaces and functions in line with needs of the school;
    • Liaise with the Director of Operations to support the equipment planning and procurement process as part of the Integrated Planning Exercise;
    • In consultation with the Director of Operations and School Managers, and Faculty IT, take the lead for development of audio/visual facilities across the Faculty including development and support for a programme of upgrades to faculty meeting spaces to support hybrid working in collaboration;
    • Aligned to the Faculty’s Vision and Strategy for Sustainability, co-ordinate design, develop and deliver space projects to ensure the Faculty meets its commitments for sustainability. Act as the first point of contact to deliver these projects with colleagues within the Faculty and Facilities Directorate staff;
    • Take the lead for other facilities-related projects, as determined by the Faculty Executive, being responsible for all aspects of the projects from inception to completion and working with colleagues and teams within the University as well as external contractors;
    • Attend relevant faculty and school operational group meetings, space committee meetings, and any other working group associated with space issues;
    • Develop and deliver a process for asset management, including oversight of asset registers/ equipment inventories/ SAP recording/ insurance inspection records. Manage relevant facilities budgets where appropriate including the faculty facilities budget, and liaise with the Director of Operations regarding project infrastructure budgeting;
    • Support the Director of Operations by delivering compliance requirements relating to faculty buildings and facilities issues, play a leading role in the support in the development of the Business Continuity Management Plan;
    • Work closely with Faculty Health and Safety colleagues, support delivery of Health and Safety policies associated with facilities and fabric. Take an active role on the Faculty Health and Safety Committee and action resultant issues where appropriate. Develop and disseminate procedures and practices to ensure the safe operation of School facilities (e.g. PA testing strategy, safe operating systems).
