Profile
I am the Student Support Officer for SSP. I communicate with students to ensure that they have access to the support that they need throughout their studies. I am available to talk to students who are struggling or are unsure of where to find support. I can offer guidance on mitigating circumstances and other University processes, and on the various forms of professional help available to students.
My responsibilities include;
- Meet with students to assess their circumstances, provide support and guidance on academic policy issues, and refer on to specialist support services as appropriate
- Recruitment of student reps and liaison with relevant student societies
- Support induction activities and social events for students
- Lead development and continuous improvement of policies and procedures for student support in line with University expectations and regulations
- Oversee and administer coursework mitigating circumstances requests and maintenance of records
- Provide support for Special Circumstances Committee
- Provide support for Study Success Meetings
- Follow up and investigate cases of poor attendance, provide support, signpost, and refer to personal tutors/DSE as appropriate
- Provide support for Fitness to Study procedures
