This project aims to investigate the different ways in which families with young deaf children facilitate the development of early literacy skills.
For some preschool deaf children, the shared language of the home with be BSL and for others it will be spoken English.
This project will investigate the features of early literacy events in these two different language situations and explore what advice is given to families by visiting teachers of the deaf and the extent to which this meets the needs of families.
