Heather Marquis

Profile

I have worked for the University of Leeds since 2016, commencing my career in the Faculty of Medicine and Health, before moving on to the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures, firstly as Programme Support Team Leader in the Language Centre and then as PGR Administrator in the Doctoral College.

My role since 2019 has been PGT Admissions Officer in the Faculty of Education, Social Sciences and Law.  I took over responsibility for the Faculty Visit Days soon after starting in this role, and I have successfully delivered both on-campus and virtual events to Undergraduate Offer Holders.  This involved, but was not limited to, the following: liaising with academic colleagues over dates, staffing and presentations; recruiting, training, supporting and paying Student Ambassadors; assessing and meeting Health and Safety requirements for all events; providing an excellent experience for Offer Holders and their guests, both on-campus and virtually.

In 2021 I took over responsibility for PGT Admissions for the School of Law, having previously been focused on the School of Education and the School of Sociology and Social Policy.  I assess applications for Master’s programmes, deciding whether or not applicants meet our entry requirements by revieweing their academic and professional achievements.  I liaise with academics in the School of Law to assess applications for programmes which operate under the staged admissions process, and also those which have come from our partner institutions.  I work with academic colleagues to review scholarship applications and I am responsible for processing awards for School scholarships and Trans-National Education Agreements.
