Professor Fiona Williams OBE elected as Fellow of the British Academy
Professor Fiona Williams elected by the British Academy in recognition of her contribution to research
The British Academy elected Emeritus Professor Fiona Williams OBE as a UK Fellow, among 42 other distinguished academics, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to research at its Annual General Meeting on 14 July 2016.
Research areas spanned the breadth of the humanities and social sciences, including law, linguistics, economics and history.
Fiona is a co-editor of Social Politics, a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts, and a member of the Academy of Learned Societies in the Social Sciences. She was awarded an OBE in 2004. Fiona has written widely on gender, 'race' and ethnicity in social policy, and is currently researching the employment of migrant care workers in Europe.
In addition to the UK Fellows, the British Academy elected twenty new Corresponding Fellows from overseas universities in the US, Australia, Spain and Germany, and four Honorary Fellows (Sir Paul Nurse, Lord Sainsbury, Kate O’Regan and Janet Yellen).
