Disability Studies Conference 2024: Call for Papers
The Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) is launching a new biennial Disability Studies Conference. The Call for Papers for the September 2024 conference invites proposals to be submitted by 30 April.
The Disability Studies Conference aims to create a space where researchers, practitioners, policy makers and activists from around the world can share and debate ideas, research and challenges in and for Disability Studies.
This year’s conference will take place from Tuesday 3 until Thursday 5 September 2024 on campus at the University of Leeds, with an option to attend remotely via the conference app.
The Conference has announced its Call for Papers, with a deadline of 30 April:
We invite presentations, collective discussion and debate which engage with, challenge and provoke the principles and practice of Disability Studies - from both within or beyond the discipline.
We particularly encourage submissions that privilege the voices of those who have been marginalised and on topics that have hitherto not been the focus of Disability Studies activity.
Conference organisers are keen to welcome a variety of modes of presentation, including paper presentations (in person and/or remote), symposia, panel discussions, online discussions and poster presentations.

The Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) is a Faculty Centre, supported by the Faculty of Social Sciences, with members from across the Social Sciences, Humanities and STEM subjects, united by their commitment to carrying out research and teaching that helps to achieve equality and social justice for disabled people, globally.
The current Co-Directors of CDS are Professor Roger Slee and Dr Miro Griffiths, who are based in the School of Sociology. CDS Executive Members include: Professor Anna Lawson, Dr Hannah Morgan, Dr Claudia Coveney, Dr Tom Campbell and two Postgraduate Researcher representatives (currently Johanna Knebel and Leo Woodend).
