Book prize success for Professor Ruth Holliday and co-authors
Beautyscapes: Mapping Cosmetic Surgery Tourism (Manchester University Press) has been recognised by the Foundation for the Sociology of Health and Illness.
Co-authored by Professor Ruth Holliday (School of Sociology and Social Policy), Professor David Bell (School of Geography) and Dr Meredith Jones (Brunel University London), the publication has won this year’s SHI Foundation (Foundation for the Sociology of Health and Illness) Book Prize.
‘Beautyscapes: Mapping Cosmetic Surgery Tourism’ was published in June 2019 and explores the global phenomenon of international medical travel, focusing on patient-consumers seeking cosmetic surgery outside their home country and on those who enable them to access treatment abroad, including surgeons and facilitators.
