Profile

I started my PhD at the University of Leeds in October 2024. I previously attended the University of Arizona (2020), where I completed a BA with Honors in Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law, and a Minor in Geology. My BA thesis “Why Justices Disagree” explores the dynamics of the Supreme Court in America, and why dissent occurs. I continued my education at Iowa State University, where I recieved an MA in Political Science and Global Politics (2023). It was here I expanded on my research in identity studies, researching ethnic identity in Ukraine. This included writing and conducting surveys in Ukraine, since the invasion by Russia in 2022.

Research interests

My PhD research examines the changes in identity of individuals in Ukraine since the Russian invasion in 2022. It uses social media as a lens to track and examine how and why identity changes. My research proposes a mixed methods methodology that examines identity from multiple perspectives. It aims to the contribute to understanding of how social media affects identity in time of war.

I am more broadly interested in identity studies and conflict dynamics. Particularlly in those pertaining to Eastern Euorpean conflict. I am also interested in the use of social media platforms as a medium of developing identities, specifically through a constructivist lens.
