Research interests

My PhD research focuses on why the communist imaginary become a persistent feature of electoral politics in Indonesia. My main aim is to systematically analyse the significance of communist imaginary in Indonesia’s presidential elections, identifying how the invocation of this imaginary proved to be a significant political resource in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections.
