Samuel Lee

Profile

I initially trained as a Physicist and like many STEM students, my experience had been largely ‘chalk and talk’, where an academic simply regurgitated some content which I then memorised and subsequently repeated in an exam. I found this rather unfulfilling! This sparked a real interest in how we could facilitate learning more effectively.
My area of interest lies in experiential learning and I spend a lot of my time reading and writing about learning design and creating participant-centred active and reflective learning experiences. I am a part-time doctoral student, working full time as a teaching fellow and as an external consultant.
I deliver a range of undergraduate teaching as a module manger for the University of Leeds. I currently module manage:

  • EDUC2008 – Outdoor & Experiential Learning
  • LEED1031- Leadership & Teams
  • LEED2131 – Emerging Leaders
  • LEED3002 – Risk Management (Outdoor Activities)

I run a small experiential learning consultancy, delivering advice and support to organisations wishing to enhance the impact of their learning programmes. I also develop toolkits for professionals to help them design and deliver high quality learning experiences. Find out more at www.stormy-sky.co.uk
