Sophie de Groot

Profile

I graduated with a first class honours degree in International Relations from the University of Leeds in 2019. Following this, I achieved a distinction level MSc in Security, Conflict and Justice from the School of Law in 2020. After taking some time away from academia to work in social research, I returned to the university in 2023 to begin a 1+3 White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership. As part of this, in 2024 I completed an MA in Social Research, winning the Head of School prize for my dissertation exploring trusted adult perspectives of adolescent partner violence.

Research interests

My research explores young people’s experiences of intimate partner violence. I am particularly interested in LGBTQ+ adolescent experiences of intimate partner violence, feminist and participatory approaches to research.
