Yinshu Zhu

I joined the University of Leeds as Teaching Fellow in Inclusion, Childhood and Youth in February 2022. My undergraduate degree was in Performing Arts Education, and then I completed an MSc in Educational Studies, followed by a PhD in Education. My master's and PhD research focused on inclusive education and using music and dance as the effective tool to improve the quality of inclusive practice at mainstream primary schools. I have worked in teaching and research at the university level since 2017. My work typically sits in a range of courses related to Educational Studies and Inclusive Education.

Research interests

My main research interests are improving inclusive practice through performing arts education and activities. My PhD study provides insights into educators' perceptions of children with additional support needs and the idea of integrating performing arts to improve school inclusion. I am also interested in educational research encompassing inclusive policies, practices, and pedagogies in different contexts.
