Profile
I am a primary school teacher working in an urban inner-city context of Bradford, whilst conducting a PhD part-time, with a particular interest in how classroom talk supports children’s learning and development. My teaching practice and research are driven by a commitment to equitable and inclusive education that recognises the diverse backgrounds and experiences children bring into the classroom.
My research explores dialogic pedagogy, classroom discourse, and the role of oracy in urban primary schools. I am particularly interested in how children’s interactional styles in and out of the classroom are shaped by socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, and in how teachers perceive and respond to these dynamics. My work also considers the practical challenges faced by teachers in fostering effective classroom dialogue and supporting all learners to find their voice.
