I am a current primary school teacher in an inner urban setting, currently serving as a subject lead with a focus on promoting oracy and classroom dialogue within the curriculum. With my enjoyment for enhancing communication in the classroom it has inspired me to pursue a part-time PhD whilst continuing my work as a classroom teacher. I aim to explore dialogic pedagogy and its applications as my research interests are mainly concentrated on curriculum and pedagogy.

Research interests

•    Classroom interaction
•    Discourse analysis
•    Dialogic pedagogy
•    Initial Teacher Education and Training
•    Educational Psychology

My research interests concern practical applications of pedagogy within the curriculum, in particular the means by which schools as organisations have a commitment to develop initial teacher training within this area. Initially, my research interests revolve around understanding ways in which leadership can foster and provide professional development in classroom discourse and begin to understand whether there are any correlations with a child’s academic performance and their quality of communicative interactions.
Throughout my journey as an Early Careers Teacher, I have recognized the challenges of effectively integrating classroom talk, particularly given the limitations of teacher training in this area. I am committed to advancing educational practices that foster meaningful dialogue among students, ultimately helping to uplift local communities by addressing the challenges of deprivation and improving the quality of communication among families and children.
