Professor Roulstone discusses the nature of work capability assessments

The much-criticised healthcare contractor Atos will no longer administer work capability assessments for disabled and sick people, the government has announced.

Professor of Disability Studies, Alan Roulstone, writes about the current lack of involvement disabled people experience during work capability assessments.

After the announcement that the healthcare contractor Atos is no longer to administer capability assessments for sick and disabled people, Professor Alan Roulstone highlights some of the issues with current capability assessment processes and also suggests areas for improvement. He argues that disabled people should be increasingly included and consulted in the assessment process:
