Prof Ian Law quoted in Guardian article on the rise of Islamophobia

The majority of British Muslims say they have witnessed discrimination against followers of the Islamic faith and that a climate of hate is being driven by politicians and media, a study has found.

Professor Ian Law is quoted in a piece discussing a study which claims that anti-Muslim prejudice has risen and that a climate of hate is being driven by politicians and the media.

The piece in The Guardian discusses the study put together by the Islamic Human Rights Committee (IHRC). Among its findings the study says that around two-thirds of British Muslims have witnessed discrimination against followers of the Islamic faith.

Professor Ian Law, an expert in Racism and Ethnicity Studies, commented on the study discussing how it sheds light on the rise of anti-Muslim prejudice.

The article also discusses the different forms of discrimination that have risen since the same survey was taken in 2010. The context around the government and Islamic extremism is also briefly discussed.
