WRDTC Induction Event 2014

The current student Academic Quality Committee representatives will explain their role on the AQC as a student member and encouraged new students to get involved.

Over 300 new PhD students from the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York are invited to attend the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre Induction Event, 9 October 2014, at Leeds Town Hall.

This is the first of the large WRDTC events and conferences in 2014-15 for social scientists that forms one part of the wide range of training events and courses offered to the post graduate research community.

The day begins with a welcome from the WRDTC Director, Martin Jones, to the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre and an introduction from academic representatives at Universities of Leeds and York.

Two of our training pathways and their students will give presentations and talk about the training and events they ran last year.

The directors of our Advanced Qualitative Methods and Advanced Quantitative Methods Network will talk about their future plans.

The current student Academic Quality Committee (AQC) representatives will explain their role on the AQC as a student member and encouraged new students to get involved.

A talk entitled ‘My first year as a PhD student’ will be given by current students, sharing their experiences.

After lunch, with time set aside for networking and a poster exhibition, you will join other students from your Pathway areas to discuss ideas for future events, training and how to build a dynamic research network in your discipline.

We really enjoy welcoming our new students to the DTC social sciences research community and look forward to meeting you all.
