Research interests

I am interested in migration from the Global South to the Global North, women’s studies and the empowerment of women. My doctoral thesis was centred on the empowerment of migrant women from South Asia in the Basque Country through the ‘life history’ method. I looked at gender roles, cultural identity and the tranformations women underwent with and during the migration process. My research interests also focus on labour insertion and the economic authonomy of migrant women. I am particularly interested in India as a research locale for my work. Nonetheless I have worked on projects focused on alliances among native and migrant women in the Basque Country, employment of Roma women in the Basque Country and safe reporting of crimes of migrants with irregular migration status in Barcelona. My approach is qualitative and intersectional.
