Dr Cassandra McLuckie

I joined the School in January 2018 as a Teaching Fellow in Gender, Media and Culture. Previous to this, I worked at Leeds Beckett University, and conducted research at The University of Sydney and The Library of Congress, Washington DC. My first degree was in Women’s Studies at Lancaster University, followed by an MA and PhD at the University of Leeds.

Research interests

I am principally interested in embodiment and subjectivity, with a particular substantive focus on sexualities, and, more recently, sporting practices and identities.

My research focuses on trends in feminist theorising on the topic of “heterosex”. Previously, I have explored current theoretical limitations and problems in contemporary feminist research in this area, arguing for the importance of incorporating diverse forms of theory in making sense of this area of social life.
