Dr David Seawright

I am a Senior Lecturer working in the field of British Politics with a focus on political parties and political communication. I have published widely in these areas, particularly in how European integration has impacted on British party politics and was Principal Investigator on an ESRC awarded study of Scottish and Welsh Parliamentarians' attitudes to European integration (R000223242); moreover over the years I have undertaken extensive study of the British Conservative party and was awarded a British Academy small research grant (SG 35058) to examine One Nation Conservatism. Indeed, on Google Scholar my citations index for such published work is 628, with an 'impact' index: i10 of 18.

Research interests

Presently, I am undertaking an examination of how Europe, post Brexit, will impact on British party politics, with particular reference to the future relationship of the Conservative party to the European Conservative and Reformist group post Brexit. I am also examining the role of 'personalisation' in  present British party leadership, with regards to their poltiical communication.
