Dr Kaisa Hinkkainen Elliott

I am a University Academic Fellow in Security Studies. I received my MA in International Conflict Analysis from University of Kent in 2008 and my PhD in International Relations from University of Essex in 2013. Prior to joining Leeds, I was a Lecturer in International Relations at University of Lincoln.

Research interests

I am interested in terrorism, conflict processes and resolution, natural resources, geographical and quantitative methods.

My research has focussed on economic sanctions and terrorism, child soldiers and peacekeeping as well as state use of militias in conflicts. My current projects investigate diffusion dynamics and locations of fighting and how these micro-dynamics translate to macro-outcomes of conflicts. I am also working on investigating tactical choices of rebel groups and their determinants.
