Fred Greenstein's seminal work The Presidential Difference (2000) assesses the political leadership of US Presidents since FDR based upon 6 different leadership criteria: political skill, public policy vision, organisational capacity, public communication, cognitive style and emotional intelligence.

Each of the criteria (above) used to assess Presidential leadership I apply in a comparative study of Prime Ministerial leadership to the political leadership of John Major during his years in office as Prime Minister and Leader of The Conservative Party (1990-1997).
