British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships

The School of Politics and International Studies welcomes applications for British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships in 2018/19.

The aim of the British Academy in making these awards is to offer opportunities for outstanding early career researchers to strengthen their experience of research and teaching in a university environment. The primary emphasis is on completion of a significant piece of publishable research, which will be assisted by full membership of an academic community of established scholars working in similar fields.

Details of the scheme are available here.

The School operates an internal selection procedure to identify applications which it is willing to support. Those selected for submission will be given support from their identified mentor and the School research team to develop the final proposal.

Applicants should identify a possible mentor in the School, and contact them as soon as possible to discuss their proposed area of research.

Applicants should provide the following:

  • A brief CV, including details of PhD viva and award, and main publications to date
  • A detailed research proposal (max 750 words)
  • A brief statement of support from the mentor
  • Contact details for two referees

Applications should be sent by e-mail to the School’s Director of Research, Prof Jocelyn Evans (j.a.j.evans@leeds.ac.uk), by 5pm, Friday 24 August at the latest. Applicants will be notified of the outcome in the first week of September. Final applications will be required by British Academy around 8 October 2018.
