Emerging Challenges in Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing

Professor Emeritus Clive Walker was a co-organiser of a symposium on Emerging Challenges in Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing at Notre Dame Law School, Indiana, USA on 29 April 2016.

The event was organised as part of a major grant from the Arts & Humanities Research Council on Dirty Assets: Experiences, reflections, and lessons learnt from a decade of legislation on criminal money laundering and terrorism financing.

The event was held in Notre Dame’s Main Building, and was hosted by Jimmy Gurulé, professor of law at Notre Dame and former US Department of Treasury expert.

The symposium brought together experts, practitioners and policy makers from the United States, England, Canada, and the United Nations to discuss emerging issues related to money laundering and terrorist financing.

Professor Walker gave a paper on ‘European Initiatives to Combat the Financing of Terrorism’.

This event was the fourth in the AHRC-funded series, and the research presented throughout the series is now being be compiled into a new handbook on money laundering and terrorist financing law to be published by Ashgate next year.
