Research Roundtable: Professor Ole Hammerslev, University of Southern Denmark

Professor Hammerslev has written widely on the legal professions, legal aid and legal and criminal justice education and will present on his current and planned research projects.

Abstract

Professor Hammerslev has written widely on the legal professions, legal aid and legal and criminal justice education. He is currently co-editing with Hilary Sommerlad (and Rick Abel and Ulrike Schultz) the two volume international comparative collection ‘Lawyers in Society’, which returns to Abel and Lewis’ study of the world’s legal professions thirty years on.

At this research roundtable, Ole will present on his current and planned research projects, and there will then be an opportunity for colleagues to share their own ideas with a view to develop future potential research collaborations. In particular, Ole is interested in issues of professional identity, particularly around the legal profession’s conceptions of its future skills needs and in relation to legal aid and legal aid lawyers. He is also keen to talk to colleagues about clinical legal education projects including those delivered as part of the curriculum, and an Inside/Outside project involving criminology students studying alongside prisoners.

All colleagues are welcome to attend the afternoon roundtable discussion. If you have a specific project or question in mind and can’t make the session, then please contact Andrew Francis,

Details of Ole's current and recent projects can be found on his web profile
