Time and Space(s) in Legal and Criminal Justice Education

This session draws on research and scholarship from three colleagues who have been engaging in these issues in their work at both a practical and theoretical level.

Abstract

When and where our learning and teaching interactions occur with students are increasingly challenged by advances in digital technologies, re-design of teaching spaces, use of lecture capture, social media and student (and staff) working patterns and other commitments. Traditional models of learning and teaching are being disrupted with greater opportunities for collaborative interactions between learners and teachers, and for some of this communication to take place in asynchronous forms.

This session draws on research and scholarship from three colleagues within CIRLE, School of Law, who have been engaging in these issues in their work at both a practical and theoretical level, and will draw on examples, of developing a university MOOC on prisons, the LITE funded Report on the University’s collaborative learning lecture theatres and establishing a transitions portal for students entering higher education. There will be three papers and time for discussion and the sharing of best practice among all colleagues. Please do bring your own ideas and experiences for discussion.
