2021 POLIS PGR Annual Conference - call for papers

The POLIS PGR Annual Conference has been running for more than 15 years. The overall theme this year is “Resilience, Adaptation, and Innovation” focusing on the post-pandemic world and society.

Proposals

Call for papers/panels – deadline for submission of abstracts for papers and panel proposals is Tuesday 20 July 2021

Proposals can cover any aspect of the debates and issues within Politics and International Studies defined broadly.

We are particularly keen to build bridges with other disciplines within the faculty and wider university. Therefore, we are delighted to consider paper proposals from PGRs outside of POLIS. We are soliciting individual papers and panel proposals addressing a range of topics including, but not limited, to the following themes – considering current PhD projects in our School:

  • Cyber politics and cyber society, data governance
  • Nationalism, Diversity, Migration, Human Mobility
  • Energy (Innovation, Markets, Trends, and Outlooks)
  • Political economy of development (international development and theory, vision of progress, limits of growth, development aid)
  • Sustainable Development, Natural Resource Management and Accountability
  • Global development challenges (climate change, poverty, health, inequality)
  • Humanitarian intervention, peacekeeping and criminal justice
  • Political Violence, Non-state actors, Terrorism
  • Politics of contemporary and emerging science and technology

To submit a paper or a panel, write a short description or abstract no more than 200 words of the paper you intend to present or the panel you would like to put together. Panel proposals should contain 3 paper-proposals grouped together under a common theme with a chair who can also be one of the panellists. Multi-author paper submissions are accepted.
