Academic Symposium on Commercial and Contract Management

This prestigious conference is jointly sponsored by the International Association for Contract & Commercial Management and the University of Leeds Law School and Business School.

The quality and value of research in the fields of contract and commercial management are growing fast.

The International Association for Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM) and the University of Leeds, Business School and Law School are delighted to announce a jointly sponsored Academic Symposium on Contract and Commercial Management that will take place on April 25th, featuring some of the top academics leading new thinking in our field.

Draft programme

This event will combine industry and academia to review and assess the implications and implementation of new thinking. Our outline agenda includes:

Introductory Welcome Address by Alastair Mullis, Dean of the Law School, University of Leeds & Tim Cummins, President, IACCM

Lisa Bernstein, Wilson-Dickinson Professor of Law, University of Chicago Law School who will present on Structuring Interactions through Managerial Contracting & The Management of Disagreements

Henrik Lando, Professor of Law & Economics, Copenhagen Business School who will present on What causes disputes in contractual relationships?

Christof Backhaus, Professor and Chair in Marketing, Aston Business School who will present on Ethics in Commercial & Contract Management  

Roger Halson, Professor of Contract & Commercial Law, University of Leeds Law School who will present on Penalty Clauses in Commercial Contracts

Kim Ostergaard, Professor of Law, Copenhagen Business School who will present on Strategic Contracting in the Intersection of Law & Economics

SPECIAL ADDRESS: Sally Hughes, Chief Executive Officer, IACCM who will present on The Impacts of Emerging Technology on Commercial and Contract Management Role and Purpose

There will be further presentations by senior executives from industry. The event will also feature panel discussions during which industry representatives will debate the applicability and implications of the research topics.
